(ARLINGTON, TX) – Arlington-based homebuilder Steve Wall has announced that Wall Homes, celebrating their third anniversary on April 1, is going green – building a majority of their homes to the Green Built North Texas construction protocol promulgated by The Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas (HBA).

The HBA’s Green Built North Texas program consists of 27 mandatory construction guidelines and requires builders to choose up to seven additional strategies that address six categories of construction, encompassing jobsite management, water efficiency, indoor air quality, energy efficiency, material usage, and homeowner education.

"Beyond the environmental benefits offered by the Green Built North Texas program, building to these construction guidelines underscores Wall Homes dedication to quality homebuilding and responds to the growing demand for resource-efficient homes in our region," said Mr. Wall.

To commemorate three years of homebuilding success and honor Wall’s dedication to its new HBA Green Built North Texas eco-friendly building standards, several Wall Homes locations will host celebratory events in late April— the weekend after Earth Day. Details to be posted at www.wall.com in mid-April.

Since its introduction in 2006, Green Built North Texas has quickly grown to include more than 100 members and has developed numerous technical resources and educational seminars in support of its construction protocol. The program will soon offer recognition to each home built by participating builders and certified by a third party as being in compliance with the protocol.

A component of Green Built North Texas’ construction protocol under the “energy efficiency” category requires all homes to be certified under the EPA’s ENERGY STAR program. ENERGY STAR homes are roughly 15 percent more energy efficient than homes built to the current International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). According to the EPA, Texas easily leads the nation with more than 60,000 of the nearly 200,000 ENERGY STAR homes built nationwide, putting DFW homebuilders at the forefront of the emerging green building movement.

The Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas (www.dallasbuilders.com) is a professional organization dedicated to promoting new home ownership, industry advancements, and community good works. The HBA covers a seven-county area of some 5,500 square miles with a population of more than 3 million. Its membership includes more than 800 builders, developers, and remodelers along with approximately 1,200 associates – suppliers, vendors, and associated businesses and services.

With neighborhoods throughout Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, Wall offers a variety of single-family detached and attached homes with architectural style for discerning buyers who want the efficiencies of a production builder and the flexibility to customize individual new home designs. Wall Homes, with over 150 employees and 44 neighborhoods, is based in Arlington, Texas. They are on the web at www.wall.com.
