(ARLINGTON, Texas) – On April 14, 2007, San Antonio will get to take a look at the results of what home builder Steve Wall calls the “Wall Blitz Build” process. That’s the date that two model homes will be the dual focal points at the grand opening of the Wall Homes Laura Heights neighborhood in northwest San Antonio.
The same amount of work that usually expands over three to four months was channeled into a period of 19 days. The result: two Wall Homes models on site in less than three weeks.
Construction transformation started on March 7th with contractors arriving at the site before dawn. Within 24 hours, the foundation was poured; and, within 48 hours the model homes were being framed. Sheetrock was installed on the seventh day; and, after a flurry of construction activity day and night, the show homes were landscaped and unveiled on March 26 --- even with rain interruptions.
Destined to separate the company even further from competitors, Wall’s ability to build a new home in 19 calendar days will showcase its home building prowess and low overhead focus through bypassing a sales trailer and the temporary support items needed for pre-sales.
“Wall Blitz Building has really set the stage for us to demonstrate our outstanding attention to detail with even greater efficiencies in new home construction,” said Mr. Wall, president and CEO or Wall Homes. The company has its headquarters in Arlington, Texas and turned two years old on April 1.
“The process generates incredible morale and relationship building for the Wall Homes team as well as for our local sub contractors and vendors,” added Ron Millican, division vice president for Wall Homes San Antonio and Austin regions.
Blitz Building has precise planning and organizational protocols, according to Mr. Millican.
“We maintain our commitment to product quality while focusing resources into an incredibly concentrated effort during a condensed time frame---reducing cost and waste,” he said. “We’re really proud of our Laura Heights models.”
The Laura Heights Grand Opening on Saturday April 14 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. will be an equally high-energy event, according to Mr. Millican. Included will be family activities; the San Antonio Missions baseball players and mascot---on hand to sign autographs; ballpark type food, popcorn and pretzels; and contests and prizes.
The Laura Heights models were the second in a series of Blitz Builds the company has planned. Wall Homes completed a successful Blitz Build a few months ago in Fort Worth’s Deer Creek neighborhood near Interstate 35 and Risinger Road. The Deer Creek Blitz Build model homes broke ground January 11 and were constructed in 28 days, through two ice storms.
The Laura Heights models were completed far ahead of the company’s previous 28-day record.
“We broke ground the day we closed on the lots,” said Reed Preston, a Wall Homes Austin/San Antonio division construction manager. “In only 19 days---13 working days---we were done. This is quite a testament to the level of commitment by Wall Homes’ team members and our trade partners.”
“It takes an unwavering commitment to quality and standards of excellence that we’re willing to extend, while trying something completely new and innovative,” Mr. Wall said. “Our buyers are the beneficiaries.”
Laura Heights will features homes from the $150s to $180s. Home sizes will range from 1,480 to 2,289 square feet. Future plans for the neighborhood include construction of an amenity center with a swimming pool, soccer fields and a playground for neighborhood children.
Wall Homes, founded in April of 2005, designs and builds new homes for discerning buyers who value architectural style. Neighborhoods throughout Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio offer a variety of single-family detached and attached floor plans. For more information, visit www.wall.com.
